My hubby and I often have our date night at our local Prezzo (well where we live there isn’t that much choice). We do love it though, the staff are always very friendly and helpful and we can use our Tesco club card vouchers – Winner! Merry Christmas one and all

Now I know I’ve been a bit quiet of late, but quite a bit has been happening!  I had the flu (and proper flu at that – it lasted nearly 4 weeks and really knocked me off my feet).

It was horrid! My husband and I were supposed to be off to France to visit my parents but were too ill to go. Luckily they arrived here a few weeks afterwards for a visit so at least we got to spend some lovely time with them before Christmas.

As a consequence of the flu and the sheer hecticness of my life of late I’ve hardly been baking at all, but I promise to post some new recipes over Christmas and throughout January.

The other reason for the lack of baking is that I’ve just been rushed off my feet working and preparing for the festive season. I absolutely love Christmas, especially getting my tree and decorations up. My husband and I have been collecting decorations from our travels for years. I just treasure each and every memory.

Here’s my tree this year, and I must say I’m really pleased with it!

Once the tree was up there was Christmas present making, this year we made mini puds and chutneys for family and friends.

 

 

 

Finally there was Christmas cake decorating. The cakes had been steeping for over a month at this point so they are quite boozy!

Now it’s Christmas Eve and we’ve been over to my aunt’s. Every year for quite a few years now on Christmas Eve we’ve been there for pork baps and a good catch up with my aunt, uncle, cousins and all of their families.  It’s a really special time and I can’t imagine Christmas without doing this.  Each year we always take a family snap and this year it’s one of the best ones we’ve taken. It’s amazing to look back at the photos over the years to see just how much our family has grown.

Whatever you are doing and whether you celebrate or not, I hope this festive season you get to spend time with those you love and just enjoy it.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I love Christmas, I really do. I know not everyone celebrates and that’s fine too. But I love putting up the tree, seeing friends and family I don’t see all that often, using the ‘shuffle all’ option on my iPod because it doesn’t matter that Christmas songs play!

It’s a time of year I really look forward to – you know, playing a bit of Michael Bublé and dancing around my kitchen etc.  However, I don’t believe in spending lots of dosh you don’t have on things that will be consigned to a cupboard. Instead, I’m a bit old fashioned and I believe Christmas should be about spending time with those you love and doing nice things for others.  Continue reading “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
